How To Study The Bible

Reading and studying the Bible through The Holy Spirit helps us see and understand The Truth, The One Truth, not our truth, but His Truth. In the book of John, Jesus reveals to us who is the Greatest and True Teacher of all times, that is, The Holy Spirit.

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

(John 14:26 KJV)

The Bible, which is the Word of God, it is indeed written by men, but these were not any men. These men were saints, they were holy, they were chosen by God, whom inspired them to write The Word, The Scripture, The Holy Command.

20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

(2 Peter 1:20-21 KJV)

The Bible

The Word of God was written in two different languages, the Hebrew and the Greek. The Old Testament was written in Hebrew and the New Testament was written in Greek. One of the English versions of the Bible we use is the King James Version because it’s the most accurate translation.

When it comes to study the Word of God under the Holy Spirit’s guidance, there is not a better way to study it than studying it word-by-word. Having in mind that not all words translated capture the original language fully.

This is crucial to know because we might interpret the Word of God incompletely or even incorrectly. It is where an amazing Bible study tool comes handy.

The Bible Study Tool

The Bible study tool that I present to you is called the Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible. This Bible study tool helps us understand and know with precision the exact translation from either the Hebrew or the Greek language to the English language. But wait, there is more! This Bible tool not only gives us the correct translation but it also gives us many scriptures that are connected as references which are located in the entire Bible, which also means more to study until we are able to narrow down what The Holy Spirit wants us to learn from a particular word, verse, chapter, etc.

Now that we have knowledge about this amazing Bible study tool, we’re going to learn how to approach a study session, and again, under The Holy Spirit’s guidance. We humbly pray and ask The Holy Spirit to teach us.

Basic Instructions

For this Study Session, we are going use The Parable of the Ten Virgins in Matthew 25.

The word we are going to target is wise.

To read this verse or chapter click here.

We simply identify the word that we need to have knowledge of, and the word is wise.

1. Gather the name of the book, chapter and verse. In this case Matthew 25: 2.

2. Head over to the internet and type the name of the book, chapter and verse.

3. Right after the verse, type text analysis and press enter.

We can perhaps narrow down our search by typing either Greek or Hebrew analysis instead of text analysis. The browser however, recognizes that this verse can only be found on its respective language because it does not exist in the opposite language. Remember? The Old Testament was written in Hebrew and The New Testament in Greek and this verse is found in the New Testament. Therefore, by using text analysis, the browser will only show the result available in its language, in either Hebrew or Greek, but in this case, it’s the Greek.

4. Once we hit enter, our list of results will be displayed. Click on the one that says Matthew 25:2 Greek Text Analysis from Bible Hub.

In this page you see a chart where it shows the Strong’s, the actual word in Greek, the accurate translation to English, etc.

5. Under the English column within the chart, find the word wise.

6. Then, look at the Strong’s column and find the row that belongs to the word wise. The number you see identifies the word wise in Greek.

7. Click on the Strong’s 5429.
